What is TooMuchPatentLeather?

My name is Alex and this blog is more of a diary or mood board, expressing my own original thoughts about fashion, beauty, art and what exactly is too much. The title of this blog is like my personal style in that it is ironic- there can never be too much patent leather. Fashion is more than self expression or art, it is a form of communication and this page will be committed to communicating both simple and elaborate conceptual ideas and also opinions. Whenever I place pictures of myself I am not using professional photography tools. I do not own or claim property on any images. Feel free to leave a comment expressing your own opinions and constructive criticism. Thanks for reading!

When is Halloween Just Too Much?

With Halloween coming up and all, I thought it only suitable to explore ideas of what Halloween should mean. When is Halloween too much? Its too much when it just becomes an unintentional cheesy costume that has no realness, or true persona. How fun would Halloween truly be if it was about adopting a persona, feeling, or character rather than occupation or creature or actual person. Halloween offers the idea that adopting something creepier, something vampy, can freshen and develop new directions in terms of style. While definitely something to consider, Halloween simply reflects the power of directing some type of inspiration as a key focus in the creation of an outfit. While several of the images are theatrical, dramatic or extremely dark, keep your mind open to new possibilities and try considering how another person would wear something. Would that person wear socks, or curl their hair, have dark circles, would they look tired, or would they look pristine and controlled, have they ate anything? Off on a tangent, but anyway, try keeping an open mind. Thanks for reading, and check the archives for anything that catches your eyes.

This would be an amazing example of an unexpected costume.
