What is TooMuchPatentLeather?

My name is Alex and this blog is more of a diary or mood board, expressing my own original thoughts about fashion, beauty, art and what exactly is too much. The title of this blog is like my personal style in that it is ironic- there can never be too much patent leather. Fashion is more than self expression or art, it is a form of communication and this page will be committed to communicating both simple and elaborate conceptual ideas and also opinions. Whenever I place pictures of myself I am not using professional photography tools. I do not own or claim property on any images. Feel free to leave a comment expressing your own opinions and constructive criticism. Thanks for reading!

How Did She Die? Television killed the Girl

Reflecting a lot about media lately, I've had this crazy thought process about fame, performance and time. The obsession over fame, the it factor, all things ran by show biz. When is it too much? Sometimes, as the public, we're fascinated about the monsters within these public figures, obsessed about obsessing over depressed, self medicating, loud individuals. At cock fights, do people normally view the roosters as the monsters? Judy Garland above all others will always be in my heart as the performer, the lover and mistress of the public. However, I've come to the conclusion that the demise of these public figures does not come from their being any different than us 'normies' or that they were corrupted. Life has its pathways, and maybe its too hard to understand the life of someone like Lindsay Lohan. Either way, these images are just some good depictions on the mood I am in right now and overall may be seen as a commentary on fame. Thanks for reading!

Young Britney, so many emotions with this picture.

All right, important to note, I am not using what some might deem as ugly pictures of celebrities when they're older to show how they've aged. This isn't a commentary on time, but on emotion.

This picture may be considered as a time commentary, obviously.

I actually feel there's a strength here.

Her eye.

I want nothing more but to see her live.

The longer I look at this picture, the more I feel something.
This video is an addition to this post but almost saddens me more. I can't quite explain it but it feels like a great representation of cute (pathetic) innocence and the distinction from that and fame monsters.

  1. I loved this so much I felt compelled to comment on it. Every one of these pictures conveys so many complex emotions and yet makes them so easy to relate to. I just love it.
